About The Hublersburg Inn

Nearly two centuries of history in the heart of Hublersburg.

The Hublersburg Inn has been part of the small village of Hublersburg for nearly two centuries. Built in 1827 by Andrew McKee, the original Hublersburg Hotel opened during a period of growth in the area, when nearby Hecla Furnace was bringing workers, businessmen and travelers through Walker Township. In those days, a local tavern was much more than a place to eat or sleep. It was often the center of community life, where travelers brought news from outside the valley and residents gathered to hear it.

Over the decades, the hotel passed through numerous owners and innkeepers. Members of the Hubler family, for whom the village was named, became closely connected with the property during the second half of the nineteenth century. By the late 1800s, sisters Mariah and Regina Hubler were operating it more as a boarding house than a traditional hotel, and church socials were regularly held there. Regina remained proprietor until her death in 1913.

The building continued to change hands and uses throughout the twentieth century. It was known for a time as Ye Old Tavern, hosted musicians performing at nearby Hecla, and underwent numerous alterations and renovations. After falling into disrepair, the property was purchased by the Ventura family in 2003 and extensively restored. The renovation was completed in 2005, when the historic hotel became the Hublersburg Inn.

Nearly 200 years of travelers, innkeepers, families, employees and guests have passed through the building. That long history is part of what made the Hublersburg Inn such an interesting location for our team to investigate.​
